The Building Up of the Body of Christ, Yu-Wen Huang

I met believers meeting with the local church for the first time in the fall of 1997. Growing up in a Buddhist family, I did not have much interest in knowing the Lord, but gradually through the believers in the local church shepherding and caring, I opened myself to the Lord and received the Lord in January 1999. After I got saved, I started to attend the meetings regularly and received a lot of help from the brothers and sisters in the Lord to know the truth and in experiencing Christ in a subjective way. One of my specific experiences of Christ was that the Lord revealed His will concerning the Body of Christ to me and touched me to consecrate myself fully for the building up of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:16). Once, for a period of time, I was having a really hard time due to some circumstances and I just did not understand why the Lord would put me in such a situation. I did not know what the Lord's will was concerning me. Then in one of the church meetings a brother shared with us that throughout the entire New Testament, whenever God's will was mentioned (e.g., Hebrews 10:9; Romans 12:2, Ephesians 1:5, 9-11) it was always singular. So, God did not have a lot of different wills for our different situations or different needs. In everything, God only had one will, and this will was just the building up of the Body of Christ, as we can see in Ephesians. So, whatever the Lord allowed to happen to us was just for the building up of the Body of Christ. In whatever we would do, we did not need to ask what the Lord's will was in that particular matter. Since God only had one will, we should just ask whether our decision would be for the building up of the Body of Christ. That was the first time I saw so clearly the will of God, and for the first time I was deeply impressed with the fact that God had a desire for the building up of the Body of Christ. I asked the Lord to come in to everything that I would do and just make it profitable for the building up of His Body. I really have to testify that this specific experience was so real and had a great impact on my pursuit of the Lord. It also made my life so much more meaningful from that point on because I knew my life would be for the satisfaction of the Lord and for the fulfillment of His heart's desire.
